Shkolina is Russia's new high jump star

When American Brigetta Barrett lost the direction of her run up in her final bid to clear 2.03m, the camera panned in on the Russian gold medallist in the women's high jump. But while many might have expected that honour to go to Anna Chicherova, the defending champion and Olympic champion, it was not her face in the centre of the picture.

Infact, you could not actually see the face of her teammate Svetlana Shkolina because she had put both her hands over it in disbelief that the title was hers.
