President Svein Arne Hansen led his first meeting of the new European Athletics Council on Sunday morning following the elections at the Bled Congress.

The athletics community of Europe congratulated new European Athletics President Svein Arne Hansen on social media following his election at the Bled 2015 Congress on Saturday morning.

Svein Arne Hansen of Norway is the new President of European Athletics. President Hansen received 26 votes from the 50 Member Federations.

The strength of European race walking will once more come to the forefront in the Czech Republic on Saturday.

Work is underway on the construction of the new European Athletics headquarters.
